The production process involves extracting essential oils from star anise through steam distillation, followed by maceration in alcohol. It is described as having a crystal-clear appearance with an intense aroma dominated by notes of anise and sweet licorice, complemented by subtle herbal and citrus elements. The flavor is full, sweet, and well-balanced, with a pronounced anise hint and a gentle spicy-herbal bitterness. It is traditionally served neat, over ice, or with three coffee beans ("con la mosca").
